What is moderation?
Moderators are real people who read, verify and censor messages sent to mobile phones, services and chat rooms, forums or instant messaging.

Today, moderation is present in many areas of the web. It is sometimes required to meet the laws of the country, but moderation can also be to add value to the quality of the web content. There is moderation for forums, classified ads, images and photos, videos and any other written or video formats.

In general, moderation is necessary in order to:

• animate a discussion forum or an on-line or mobile messaging
• protect the reputation of a company or service provider which hosts the space or the chat
• minimize the chances that a trademark owner is in violation of the law.

While some message only pose propriety problems (insults, advertising), many others are highly illegal (racism, calls to hatred and murder, paedophilia, prostitution, incitement to piracy, etc.).

In addition, software or bots that automatically analyse messages are unable to detect surely the messages in question.

It is therefore essential that any community environment is moderate to improve its security.

Some companies have their own internal moderation, but for a large site with a high level of participation which requires a daily, efficient and trustworthy moderation, the best solution is subcontracting its moderation.
